Get rid of Bed Bugs
Pest Control Shark specializes in bed bug control and how to get rid of bed bugs.

Nest site/characteristics: Adult bed bugs are reddish brown, flattened, oval, wingless and about ¼ of an inch long. Contrary to popular belief, bed bugs are visible to the naked eye. They are about the size of an apple seed or lentil. Nymphs are about the size of a poppy seed and are translucent in color. Bed bugs do not move quickly enough to escape the view of one observing. The bedroom is generally the center of infestation. The bed bugs’ flat bodies allow them to hide in cracks in beds, bedside furniture, dressers, wall boards, door and window frames, behind pictures, and under loose wall paper. Because of their small size, bed bugs may hide in luggage, furniture, clothing, pillows, or boxes as these items get moved between homes, apartments, and hotels. Bed bugs can be picked up from shelters along hiking trails, cabins used for summer camps or in parks, theatres, buses, or trains.
Feeding Preferences: Bed bugs primarily feed on human blood, however, they are not generally considered to be disease carriers. If no human hosts are available bed bugs will choose alternative hosts such as poultry, rodents, dogs, cats, bats, or birds. They feed at night by sucking their host’s blood for about 5 minutes using piercing mouthparts. The bites are not generally felt until minutes or hours later as the saliva the bedbugs inject into their host causes itching and possible swelling. Bed bugs are most active about an hour before sunrise. Although they can go without feeding for a year, bed bugs usually feed every 5 to 10 days. Bites may occur in a row or a cluster as the bed bug may have been disturbed while feeding. Bed bugs leave fecal spots on bed sheets and harborage; they also have stink glands that leave odors.
Bed Bug Control: Bed bugs can be detected by looking for the fecal spots, egg cases, and shed skin. Indirect measures can go a long way in controlling bed bugs. Keep bats and birds away from houses; tighten and caulk windows and doors; eliminate outdoor garbage; move woodpiles, weeds, and shrubs away from the foundation; repair cracks in walls; steam-clean mattresses; launder bedding and mattress pads; and clean furnishings. Do not use space treatments or fogs as they are not effective. The first step of treatment is to treat the wall voids in the infected room. Do this by removing switch plates and wall fixtures to gain access to wall voids. Use DeltaDust or Tempo 1% Dust. Treat all neighboring rooms as bed bugs will move from treated to untreated rooms. Suspend SC or Tempo SC Ultra, liquid residuals, can be used for cracks and crevices, furniture, and the bed, focusing on the headboard, footboard, box springs, and bed frame.
